Asoprolapa, established in 1996, and Los Delfines golf course are home to the largest population of Scarlet Macaws in Costa Rica and is the only golf course in the world to offer sanctuary to 360 Scarlet Macaws freed from captivity.

“The survival of the Scarlet Macaw has been ensured through a controlled reproduction-in-captivity initiative, in the Nicoya peninsula.”

Around twenty species of trees have been planted at Los Delfines golf course, making it easier for the birds to feed in a natural environment, as well as offering their preferred shelter for resting and nesting.
